Ready, Set, Climbing!

Are you ready to climbing? It's easier to get started climbing than you might think, especially if you live in a city with an indoor climbing gym or wall.

Your Local Climbing Gym

If you've never climbed before, a trip to the local gym with a friend is you best introduction to basic climbing movements, gear and skill. Most gyms can outfit you with rental climbing shoes, a harness and a belay device and then give you lessons in how to safetly belay and climb. Just remember that the indoor climbing experience is very different from outdoor climbing, which requires an antirely different competency and skills for a safe experience.

Climbing indoors mirrors climbing outdoors-without the risks and objective dangers found outside. Indoors climbing is all about minimizing danger and having a safe and experience in a controlled setting.

Climbing Partners

Indoor gym climbing is usually done in pair, although you can boulber, which is climbing the walls up to ten or so feet off the ground, by yourself. But it's usually more fun to climb with a friend. As a climbing partners you check each other's knots; you belay each other; you give each other technical tips;and you have fun together. As a climbing team,one of you is the climber and other is the belayer.

Let's climb to the top with rock climbing! Rock climbing is a great sport for all ages. Everything you need to know about rock climbing is fun.
The equipment to have is very complex but to have fun and be a safe climber, you have it all. A harness is the most important part of the equipment. It is the key equipment to protect you, if you fall. Some climbing clothing you would have to have is very important. Some of this includes a sling, a harness, a helmet, and shoes. You may want to wear specialized climbing shoes to make climbing easier and more fun. Some other equipment includes carabineers for the ropes, chocks, nuts, hex, a first-aid kit just in case, bags, a cord, crampons, and a rope to tie around the waist or into the waist harness to help you if you fall. Collect all your equipment and you are ready to start climbing.
You probably want to know how to rock climb and some local clubs you can go to - that way you can have fun inside and know how to rock climb. You can climb alone or with a friend or with a team. Now this is how you rock climb. First pointer is fit your hand into open spots. When you reach the top you repel your way down. Now you can learn how rock climbing started.
There is so much history when it comes to rock climbing, even the history is fun. Did you know in ancient times people thought that powerful spirits lived in the mountains so it was wise to stay away because the gods might get angry with them? This sport or hobby was invented in the late 1800's in Europe. Safety was always important, even a long time ago.
Safety is another important issue. To have fun you have to always be safe. Smart climbers always look ahead, and pay attention. You should have the right equipment. The safe way to climb is with a partner or team. You will defiantly need a first aid kit just in case someone gets hurt. Some other tips will also keep you safer.
Many other important fun facts will help you when climbing. You will have to watch out for some dangers: High winds may occur and cold temperature can make climbing extremely dangerous. Also avalanches and falling rocks and ice may put you at risk. There may be hidden cracks in the rocks. Plus high elevations can cause sickness such as pulmonary and cerebral edema which can be life threatening. You may want to have climbing training to prepare you for outside climbing. You can pick the kind of training that meets your goal. You might want to keep your schedule up all year. This will keep you in shape mentally and physically. This will also reduce your potential for injury and will result in high strength, endurance, aerobic capacity. You will stay in shape all year. Some other facts about rock climbing is it's also called mountaineering or alpinism. This is a hazardous sport. Did you know that Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world? One last fact is that Australia has the best rock climbers in the world.
Rock climbing as you can see has its ups and downs but it's worth it when you reach the top. Even the dangers seem exhilarating. So gather up your friends and go rock climbing. You'll be sure to have a good time.
